Why Hunting With Us?

THE GUIDE

Our guides are born and raised on the island of Moloka‘i. Surrounded by the island’s exotic beauty and deeply rooted in Hawaiian culture, hunting Axis deer has become a way of life—for both food sustenance and conservation.

Our ranch, located on the east end of Moloka‘i, is a family-owned operation committed to sharing this lifestyle. Our goal is to provide you with the most authentic hunting experience possible—one that not only connects you with the land, but also offers insight into the cultural and traditional values of Moloka‘i, a place we proudly call home.

Moloka‘i remains a rural island where subsistence living continues to be a cornerstone of the local economy and way of life.

THE AXIS DEER
ITS HISTORY

In 1867, as a gift to King Kamehameha V, eight Axis deer were introduced to the island of Moloka‘i—three bucks, four does, and one male fawn. Originally from India and Sri Lanka, these deer quickly adapted to the island’s environment.

Primarily grazers, Axis deer prefer grass but will browse on a variety of vegetation, including native plants. With no natural predators in Hawai‘i, their population has flourished, and unlike many other deer species, Axis deer can give birth year-round.

Despite being classified as an invasive species, Axis deer hold a unique and respected status on Moloka‘i. For many Native Hawaiians, hunting these animals is a cultural tradition deeply tied to subsistence living and environmental stewardship.

There are no seasonal restrictions or bag limits on Axis deer in Hawai‘i, making sustainable hunting practices essential for both population control and resource balance.

What People Are Saying

Axis Deer
rating

Our experience on Molokai and specifically on our hunt with Earl was top notch. The island is a special place with preserved tradition. The people of Molokai have a strong bond with the land, are warm and inviting to those those treat their home with respect and reverence. It’s untouched Hawaii with pristine beaches and gorgeous stretches of nature. This isn’t by accident, the people are custodians of this beautiful place. Our hunt took place on Earl’s family ranch. It’s immediately obvious that Earl has spent his life hunting, exploring and cultivating this land. We felt honored to given access to it. Earl was a consummate professional, knowledgeable about the game, the land and the patterns of the animals. Prepare to cover some elevation if you want a great shot opportunity. Earl brought us in on big bucks during each of our morning and afternoons together. My son was able to secured a gorgeous 32 inch buck thanks to Earl’s guidance. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will certainly be back to this special place. Thank you Earl and thank you to your family for this special experience.
